THE METROPOLITAN

The Metropolitan, Chicago Perhaps it’s the stately edifice facing Grant Park and Lake Michigan that makes people first notice The Metropolitan.

But more than likely, it’s the unique and alluring purple-blue light atop the building that makes it so distinctive and recognizable as people enjoy the park or cruise along Lake Shore Drive after the sun goes down.

Beneath that unusual and intriguing light are the downtown Chicago condos residences of The Metropolitan.

Townhomes of up to 4,000 square feet with 11-foot ceilings occupy floors 2 and 3 at The Metrolpolitan. The Burnham residences are located on Floors 7 through 22, featuring more than a dozen floorplans of one- and two-bedroom condos.

Mingled with the Burnham are Avenue Residences in two- and three-bedroom configurations on Floors 5 through 23. Finally, the Millennium Penthouses top the building on Floors 24 through 30.

The penthouses have incredible, soaring Lake Michigan views that take in the Park, Michigan Avenue and Monroe Harbor.

The Metropolitan looks over Grant Park, a fabulous Chicago space kept forever free of obstruction thanks to the efforts of merchandising legend Aaron Montgomery Ward. Ward’s strenuous efforts in the 1800s to keep the lakefront open and without additional buildings were not necessarily well received during that era, but generations of Chicagoans have since benefitted greatly from his pioneering vision and continue to do so today.

The Metropolitan draws the name “Burnham” for some of its residences from legendary Chicago architect and planner Daniel Burnham, who had top-floor offices in the next building north. The Railway Exchange Building, designed by Burnham, is recognizable by the large lighted letters “Santa Fe” on the roof, directly above where Burnham created his famous Plan of Chicago in 1909. Many of the parks, harbors and boulevards that make Chicago so unique are a direct result of his efforts. A more historicaly important piece of Chicago real estate is hard to imagine.

Busy, bustling Michigan Avenue is right outside The Metropolitan’s front door. Orchestra Hall, home of the Chicago Symphony, in only a block away. CTA elevated train service, on the famous Loop, is also only a block away. Millennium Park, Pritzker Pavillion, Crown Fountain, Lurie Garden, Cloud Gate (The Bean) and so much more of distinctive Chicago are just a short distance away.
